Artemis and Kid Flash are both former members of the Team, but from different backgrounds. He comes from a legacy of heroes, while her. This is Wally and Artemis' first actual date. Occurs right . "Maybe one day there'll be Kid Flash + Artemis shirts like that," she said. "Yea, but I'd.
He picked up his controller to set up another game, but was whisked off the couch before he could protest. Robin, Wally, and Zatanna sat at a cafe opposite the restaurant Artemis had entered.
Luckily their target was seated by the window, and was easily visible; as well as her date.
Wally and Robin stared at her blankly. A running commentary spices things up a bit. Artemis' 'not-date' was definitely good looking. He had the build of a soccer player, and looked a little bit like a young Brad Pitt.
He had 'jerk' written all over him, as far as Wally was concerned. Who asks someone to read over an English report at a restaurant? A large grin spread over Robin's features. Wally half expected them to start rubbing their hands together while cackling madly. Artemis looked out the window, trying to ignore most of what Max was saying.

He had chosen to sit beside, rather than across from her, at the booth. It was hard to ignore him when he was this close, and his proximity was slightly unsettling.
She was starting to get the feeling that this was a date. Call her crazy, but usually friends didn't rub their legs against hers, and certainly didn't take every chance to touch her.
The moment she had walked in, he had given her this look; a look that was now directed right at her chest. Artemis had had her fair share of suitors, but she hadn't really been interested in any of them. She was especially not interested in the kind that looked her in the eyes about 10 percent of the time.
There is no way I'm admitting to Wally that my 'not-date' was a slime-ball, Artemis thought. How on earth did Wally end up on her mind? So maybe they had gotten along a little bit better than usual; that didn't change anything.
Their exchange this morning proved that. But Artemis knew something was different now. They spent more time together than they had before. Sometimes Wally would just drop by her room at the cave to distract her from her homework. Artemis wouldn't admit it, but she enjoyed the times he managed to drag her from her room, and out on a little escapade. They would go for dinner, or wind up at an amusement park, and return to the cave only to spend way too much time talking into the wee hours of the night.
That's what they continued to tell themselves; that everyone else was busy. Never mind the fact that Wally always seemed to want to go out on the nights when everyone else had plans.
Artemis turned her attention back to her current situation. She was contemplating how to best get away, when a new voice disturbed her thoughts. Your waiter will be with you shortly. There was Robin in full host-uniform, handing out glasses of water, and menus. The sight would've been funny, had Artemis not known there was a more annoying reason as to why he was there. He looked way too young to be working anywhere, and his sunglasses made him highly suspicious.
Artemis shook her head quickly, taking a sip of her water. A kid in shades is serving you water, and you don't think something is wrong?

She wanted to say, but she bit down her tongue. Are you ready to order? Wally's voice had come out oddly forced. As if by magic- Zatanna. Artemis thought, scanning the room and pinning down a familiar black head. She looked up at Wally and tried to smile politely.
He seemed just as shocked as she did, and scowled in the direction of their magician friend. I meant to kick Wally! He rubbed his leg and leaned towards her, putting on his best suave voice, "It's okay You can make it up to me later, peach. Artemis swatted his hand away and glared. How exactly do you think I'm 'making this up to you'? But you know what I mean. I think you've made her plenty uncomfortable for today. Just don't bring your boyfriend along next time.
People were staring now, and Artemis shifted uncomfortably. She turned around in search of Zatanna and Robin, but they had wisely vacated the premises. He grinned, picking her up and high-tailing it out of the diner. They were sitting on the couch of the cave, waiting for Robin and Zatanna to return.
Artemis looked over at him in shock. Was Wally West apologizing to her? She didn't say anything, and he took it as a cue to continue. I don't know what it was, but I just wanted to punch him in the face. She swung her legs over his lap, and he played with the laces of her boots.
There was so much she had wanted to say to him, to ask him. But something always stopped her. Artemis rolled her eyes. They walked in together, and were immediately seated at a reserved table.
They both turned quiet for a bit after sitting down, neither of them able to conjure up a conversation topic. Both of them could recognize how awkward the situation was turning. They had always been able to talk to each other, sometimes too much to the point of annoyance, yet now, on an actual first date, they both fell silent.
There's a lot I still don't know about you, Artemis Crock. She regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth. And I'll always be there for you when you want to talk to me about anything, don't worry about it Artemis. Wally's mouth opened as if to say something but no sound came out. Artemis just flashed a knowing smirk at him. The waiter came before Artemis could produce a teasing comment about Wally. They each ordered coke as their drink, but that was when the similarities in their orders stopped.
Wally decided on the ravioli, with a side of salad, and extra side of fries, and another extra side of additional ravioli. Artemis choose the linguini with clams with the side order of salad. The rest of their dinner went well. Wally actually ate slowly and properly, actually putting his napkin over his lap.
Artemis appreciated the clear effort shown by the usually sloppy speedster.
As they exited, something caught Artemis' eye. There was an alleyway full of tourist like shops. Wally noticed her staring and smiled. They each tried on different funny glasses, laughing at how they looked. Artemis turned to find Wally in neon pink sunglasses that spelled out hot stuff on them. One of them was pink and green with bows and love arrows inside, whilst the other was a red and yellow pair with small lightning bolts.
They laughed as they tried them on. Wally protested, but Artemis wouldn't listen, purchasing the cheap plastic glasses for a small fee. As she handed Wally the sunglasses, he smiled. Artemis rolled her eyes but smiled, grabbing his hand to drag him to other shops. Wally stopped for a moment, pointing out a shirt. Wally looked down at her and smiled. And that person is you. You always, always challenge me, and you make me better and force me to improve.
You don't put up with my dumb antics and that's just the way I want it.
Maybe it might have annoyed me at once, but it's one of the things I love most about you now Artemis. Wally opened his mouth but Artemis interrupted. They leaned in, and their lips made contact. Like their first kiss during New Years, this was soft and pure.

They separated before leaning in for a second and then third kiss. Wally felt a small shake from the archer. Did you just shiver or something? Wally looked around, making sure no one could see them.
She realized one second too late as Wally scooped her up and began running. They may not have been escaping from tanks, but Artemis' heart raced just as much as the first time he carried her in Bialya. She laughed and slapped his chest lightly, starting to love the surprises that came with dating the Kid Flash. Wally set her down peacefully, right outside the front door of the house.
He then pulled out a key to open the door. She was definitely glad that in public, he actually ate nicely and properly, not being a slob, but she was grateful that he was himself when it was just the two of them.
Artemis hopped onto the couch, turning on Netflix. She wrapped the single blanket around herself. Wally plopped down on the couch. She was almost on top of Wally, and she liked cuddling with him, enjoying the feeling of his warm and lean body. Neither of them could focus on the movie, their thoughts instead dwelled on each other.
